what do i need to bring to my newborn session?
It depends on the session being booked. I provide outfits, diaper covers, hats, bonnets, props, and headbands for newborn babies. I ask that parents bring extra formula or breastmilk if available since we will be moving baby more than usual they tend to get more hungry then normal. I highly encourage bringing a soothie pacifier to help transition from poses to keep baby sleepy. Even if they don’t take one at home they are usually able to get the hang of it during the session. I encourage moms to bring a drink and light snack. It can get hot in the studio so you can wear layers to be able to get more comfortable. For cake smashes I provide the cake and décor.
how long do newborn sessions last?
It depends on the baby and how sleepy they are. Prepping them before hand helps a lot to get the sleepy baby poses. Typically you can expect to be in the studio for 1.5-3hours.
who can come along to the session?
I ask that only people being photographed come to the sessions to limit people in and out of the studio.
who can be photographed during the session?
I encourage immediate family members to be in the pictures, they can participate in all types of sessions. I do ask that a family member or friend take siblings to another location after their part of the session is done for the newborn sessions because it can get very hot, I can never give a timeline of when we will finish up and it may be a while. It also is good to have a quiet peaceful atmosphere when posing baby and siblings sometimes don’t have the patience to sit and wait.
How do I book a newborn session when I don't know when baby will arrive?
When you book a session, I pencil in your due date on my calendar. Once baby is born I ask that you contact me within the first 2-3 days so we can schedule a day and time that works best.
What age do you photograph newborns?
I typically schedule newborns when they are 5-15 days old. I want to get them in while they are still sleepy and curly to capture that newborn look.
